10 Things you learn at a Pop Up Summit

Recently we participated at the first European Pop Up conference Start Pop Up Now. Here are 10 things we’d ♥ to share with you.
1. Start now!
As Ibrahim Ibrahim, Master of the Pop Up Mindset, put it: “If you want to be 100% sure, you will be 100% late. Pop up is the future of retail and consumer behavior has changed: The pop up experience isn’t just about purchasing a product, but sharing a curated experience. So if you want to be a part of that, start now and book a space Europe-wide via Go—PopUpAlso you won’t find a place to sit because there’s a hell of a buzz going on.

2. At a Pop Up Summit, there will be Food!
One of the best things about pop ups? Being made to be flexible and agile, they can appear everywhere. Which is why at a pop up summit you will find yourself surrounded by freshly brewed coffee, home made cookies, delicious croissants…DSC_2975

4. Bright minds work in the Pop Up world
More than 300 attendees at Europe’s first pop up summit gathered to to put on their thinking caps. Especially the Key Note “How to keep the customer happy and engaged” by Mr. Ibrahim Ibrahim, trendwatcher, strategist and managing director Portland UK, stuck in mind. Here you find an overview of the program.

To name just a few of the bright minds:

@carolinedejager (Caroline de Jager)
@Rupert_PB (Rupert Parker Brady)

5. Equality
Based on the participants, speakers and entrepreneurs of the pop up summit in Rotterdam the representation of gender is balanced in this field. Men and Women from retail, design strategy, real estate, startup, food and beverage as well as creatives, brands and local heroes composed the attendees.DSC_3154

6. Inspiration is everywhere
Once you start working in the field of pop up, you’ll see the world differently. Every empty shop window becomes a potential host for the next pop up idea, your friends and family are the perfect market research group and a cardboard booth is your new meeting room.DSC_3027

7. It’ all about Connecting!
Hundreds of Links, Tweets, Photos, Videos and quotes have been shared via #POPUPSUMMIT with the community. This reflects the relevance of creating shared experiences.” Brand connectedness is about creating ideas that customers want to share”, (Stefan Olander, Vp Digital Sport, Nike). DSC_2979

8. Every Pop Up is like an event
Every Pop-Up is a live event in some ways. It is temporary, it is exclusive, it is exceptional. There are always going to be unexpected things that come up. Last minute program changes, someone banging a bongo drum to announce the next panel discussion or a summit turning into a bar event.DSC_3376

10. Pop Up means making a change!
We’ve been working and living in the pop up world for quite some time now. Pop up is fast and flexible, global and local, online and offline, individual and collective – pop up is now. We are thrilled to see that so many people are interested in joining our vision to make a change by reframing old economic models in real estate and retail to make pop ups a sustainable part of our sharing economy. Go—Connect!
